Hey ya’ll, it’s Alex!
Soooo, recently, I have been nesting like nobody’s business and just worrying about last minute things that we either need to do or need to get for our baby girl. I’m not going to lie, I do enjoy being a little neurotic because I’ve been getting A LOT done, for sure. But I also am finding myself on my feet quite a bit more (outside of work) and the ankle swelling is becoming more apparent. At first, the swelling would be just noticeable at the end of the day (closer to bedtime), but now, it’s starting a little earlier, like mid-day… Yay pregnancy, am I right? Any who…
Besides the swelling, I’ve been cramping and have just been a little moodier lately. Zach knows that my hormones have been doing quite a bit of talking lately. So, he’s an angel for just being around me – which makes me want to cry because he’s just very sweet… Again, yaaay pregnancy mood swings! So, since I have been cramping lately, I have a strong feeling that when my OBGYN checks me tomorrow, I will definitely be more than 1 cm dilated.
The sleeping… Well, it’s been real tough and just plain uncomfortable. We don’t have a recliner so I have had to make a mound where my head would usually be, by piling pillows (including my C shaped pregnancy pillow) on top of each other to get the reclining effect. That’s really what’s been getting me by at night. I don’t think we have ever talked about the C shaped pillow I use, but it is amazing and has definitely made sleeping so much more comfortable during my pregnancy. Even Zach has tried to steal it because he loves how it feels to sleep on. Here is a link to the same one on Amazon.
The other treat is having to pee a lot more, which makes sense since during my last OBGYN appointment, she said that the baby’s head is down.
With everything going on, I’ve been trying to squeeze in last minute items I’ve been doing some research on. Since I’ve read that babies have “blow outs” during periods of nursing, I decided to protect my Boppy nursing pillow by getting a water proof Boppy pillow case on amazon. I have provided links below to both of those on Amazon as well!
The other item I read good things about were the onesie tops that had built-in mittens and that opened up in the front, which I also found on amazon. They are long sleeve t’s that button up in the front which I read that it’s easier to change the baby with, especially after a blow out, plus, it’s great because I read that it won’t tug on the baby’s healing umbilical area!
The most recent item I found on amazon with great reviews and that I read up on are the washable cotton nursing pads. I read that with these nursing pads, they are more absorbent and your nipples are less likely to get irritated because of the extra absorption they provide.
I don’t know about you other mamas-to-be but I have really enjoyed getting different perspectives on all these items for babies, I can say that I have definitely learned A LOT. So, if you have any thoughts, please feel free to comment! Thank you and see you next time!
